Just Showing Up

The Following is From a Talk Given to a Church Group by a Close Friend of Lynn’s about Just Showing Up:

Good morning! I’m so pleased to be here with you today and to have the opportunity to share a bit of my life’s story with you, specifically the story about art in my life.

You may be wondering why I am the one up here speaking this year! Well, last year there was a questionnaire just like the one you will fill in today. I volunteered to tell my story. I have to preface it by saying that my story is not an earth shattering or over the top “Wow!” story, but it’s my story, and it tells about God’s design in my life.

We all have a story that has been designed by God, and He is working in each one of us. God refines us through our lived experiences and the fires that we sometime face.

1 Peter 1:7 refers to the trials in life and says: “These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Imagine, Our faith is worth more than gold!

Today I am going to talk about a couple of things. The first is what I call, “Just showing up”.

You never know where God is going to place you at different times in your life. I like to say that “life is like a checkerboard.” You may think that you are going to move to this square over here, but God has a different plan for you. He places you over there on a different square. It may be unplanned and unexpected, but we know that God doesn’t make mistakes!

I grew up in in the Southwest in a large family. My mom always wanted a big family! She was organized and energetic. My parents managed to get all of us kids to our Episcopal church just about every Sunday.

In June of 1974 I married my husband, my high school sweetheart, and we have been married for 50 years. After we married I converted to his faith and became a Roman Catholic.

We wanted to attend church together and raise our children in the same faith. I have always been a Christian, but at our church I have come to understand who God really is. I became new in my faith when I came here and have come to know Jesus more than I ever had before. I have treasured being in a church community that really follows Biblical teaching. I have learned so much here at our church.

I grew up surrounded by Native Americans and their beautiful arts and crafts because my dad was one of the largest distributors in the US of their handiwork; jewelry, rugs, pottery, baskets, kachinas, and more. He took us traveling on the dusty back roads of the reservations and even on top of the car roof rack through the bottom of Canyon de Chelley.

I was lucky to see Hopi snake dances while perched on the top of Hopi pueblo rooftops. We visited many ancient ruins and pueblos throughout the Southwest. My dad knew the reservation like the back of his hand, and we got stuck so many times on those deeply rutted roads that seemed to go nowhere! I will forever appreciate the beauty of the Southwest, and I never tire of the beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine.

I have always loved art and was exposed to lots of it growing up where I did. As a kid I liked to color and make cards to give to other people. I also liked to make things that I could sell. I had an entrepreneurial spirit early on! Making art filled a space in me and made me happy.

When I grew up there was no Title IX and no career counseling. I was expected to go to college, but I had no career goals specifically. I just knew I wanted to be married, have a family, and make art. I didn’t have lofty aspirations. I just rolled along and moved forward with my life. I showed up!

I moved here in 1974 and continued my college education at our local university. I switched my major to Graphic Design which seemed a better fit than Art Education where I had started out.

I graduated in 1976 and began putting my design skills and eye for color to work when I started a wall mural business with a friend.

You have heard it said many times that “if you do what you love to do as a child you will never work a day in your life”. That saying is only partly true! There is a LOT of work in whatever you choose to do even if you love it, but the satisfaction and blessing of getting to do what you love, is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.

It is amazing to get to do the things that your heart desires. I believe that God places those heart desires in each one of us and they call to us and nudge us. Those desires of our hearts are God’s seeds of purpose in us. Thankfully, they are different for each of us!

I always believed that it was important to make a designated space for my art wherever I lived in order to acknowledge its importance in my life. I urge you to do the same and to acknowledge those things that are important to you. God strongly placed art on my heart. That is where I could express myself especially in a big family.

Many years ago I came across an article about a nun who ran marathons. She said, “I just have to be faithful to the gift that God has given me. It’s almost an insult not to use what he’s given you once you recognize you’ve got it.” That article really resonated with me. It is still pinned on the bulletin board in my studio many years later.

In our first apartment as newlyweds, I had an art table made out of a door. In our first home, a funky 1920’s bungalow, I had a room off of the kitchen for my drafting table and supplies. In the next house we enclosed the garage for my studio.

Our current home has a studio that was actually designed to be my studio although I quickly outgrew it. I have been using it for the past 30 years! It is great to have a place to make a mess, close the door, and resume the next day.

When my husband and I decided to start our family I stopped painting walls and started painting furniture for kids. I did many craft shows and got orders via word of mouth. Once we had kids I would paint during nap time and at night.

All of us find ways to juggle things. I wasn’t overwhelmed with orders, but had enough to keep me doing art along with being a busy mom to our two sons. It was also an exciting time of developing new friendships with other moms.

I KEPT SHOWING UP every day to live life with its joys and challenges. It’s really important to do that no matter what you are doing. I can’t say that I delivered 100% every day, but I tried! I believe that God wants us to show up and be present in our lives. We also need to remember that we have a heavenly connection that is with us every day.

When I became a mom it was truly validating for me as a woman, and I remember saying that I finally understood why God made me, Me! Becoming a mom was amazing, and I still say it was the best thing I got do and be in this life. I relished that role and that job

I also came to realize that as women we can do a LOT of things, but we can’t do all and be all of them at the same time. We have to compromise and prioritize regularly. It was during the years of raising my sons that I definitely had to do that. I always tried to remember what was really important, and my art wasn’t in the top slot! But, I still had a great need to create because that is what God put in me.

In the late 80’s and early 90’s I started a tee shirt business painting on shirts which became popular at that time. I also designed tee shirts for resorts and airport shops. Those shirts represent a span of time during my art career and one of my stages as an artist. Every few years I turned to a new medium to explore. Perhaps I was just being nudged by God to move along in my art.

In 1994 we moved in to a home that we had built. It was a great experience that I totally enjoyed. I had always wanted to go through that process. We sold our house, moved in to a rental home and began the process of having a new home built. We stored all of our possessions in the enclosed carport and shed on that rental property. There were a few times that I asked myself “what had I gotten my family in to?”

About that time I could tell that the demand for printed and embellished tees was starting to wane. I knew that I was going to have to come up with a new type of work, but I had NO IDEAS. I thought about learning to weld to make garden art, but other than that nothing struck me as THE NEXT THING. HOWEVER, I did have a VERY strong sense that I was going to learn something from building the house that would inspire me.

And Then one day it happened…the idea came to me to paint tile

I believe that God nudged me and gave me the idea to paint tile for the back splash in our new kitchen. How do I know that God placed that idea in me? Well, up to that day I had NO interest in clay, or anything related to it. I could have cared less about ceramics!

In all of the various and NUMEROUS art classes I had taken over the years I NEVER took ceramics. I had no interest in molding clay or making anything out of clay. Lucky for me, God was nudging me again.

Once the idea was given to me I jumped on it! I called a ceramic shop and told them what I wanted to do. They told me to come in, and they would show me. I did just that and started designing and painting the tiles for the kitchen. This really resonated with me. It was a perfect use of my graphic design and color skills.

As I was painting these tiles in our rental house, I also had rows and rows of painted tee shirts drying on the living room floor. All of this was done while my boys were away at school. Every day I would drive them to school, run errands for the new house, paint tiles and tees, and prepare dinner. In the afternoons it was pick up kids, drive to sports, serve dinner, and finish up with the end of the day routines. It was a busy time but also very exhilarating.

As I finished up the tiles for the kitchen I added the bathroom tiles to my painting project. I liked this new process so much that I decided I should start a custom painted tile business. After a few months of getting settled and reorganized I started to promote my new business. One day a short time in to it I thought “maybe I could paint a plate”. So it was back to the ceramics store for another walk through another process that was a bit different from painting tiles, and I loved it!

Now, when I look at some of the first pieces I painted it is very humbling. I look at them and think, “what made me think I should continue?” Luckily, my technique improved quickly and inspiration poured out of me.

I once read a book called the “E-Myth” (E stands for Entrepreneur). There was a passage about the craftsperson that says; “The craftsperson develops a knowingness about the work she does that bears its own fruit, the fruit of being present, or attentive. The craftsperson learns that within the work she does there is a jewel hiding below the surface. The thrill of the craft is to discover the jewel.

I believe whatever we decide to do, there is the discovery of the hidden jewel as you attain your proficiency and expertise. Whether it’s a career as an archeologist or an oncology nurse you know when everything finally clicks.

In the fall of 1994, a new acquaintance and I decided to participate in an art show. We ended up selling pretty well. After that we decided to do an art show in my home in December, and I sold tees and a few dishes. It was an exciting weekend! That show was the beginning of a 25 year run of putting on the Our Holiday Marketplace which featured my work and the work of about 55 other artists. It made me happy to know that my show gave so many artists the opportunity to sell their work in a great venue over the years.

In God’s perfect timing, in early 1995, I was asked to participate in the the local Museum of Art Designer Showhouse by painting tiles for one of the 10 casitas. I also put some of my ceramic pieces in the show house gift shop. A woman bought several of them. She happened to invite some of her friends to her house for dinner who just happened to be the owners of a business called Table Talk. They went nuts over her dishes. Table Talk sought me out right away and placed a big order. I had a Tiger by the Tail! It was lots of work but very exciting.

I painted car loads of dishes that I delivered to local retail stores. As my work took off many people thought that success had happened suddenly and overnight. I would always reply that I just kept showing up for years until my art took off overnight!!

After a time I realized that I had found my own unique Artistic Voice. THAT was a profound realization. After producing art for so many years I had developed a product and style that was truly my own. What an amazing gift from God!

I have stuck with ceramics and have produced my line of tableware for 30 years! In addition to the ceramics, I have designed glass ornaments that were made in Poland, wool rugs that were woven in India, Coaster stones made in the US, and a line of dishes for a New York based company. I showed up and tried new things.

That is the story of my art and just showing up, but there is another story that took place during this time that was also between God and me. This is the second thing that I want to talk about. It is about how God forges us through fire.

There were many times when I would be asked about my ceramics, or I would be giving talk about the process. I would literally tear up and become overcome with emotion. That was because I knew that the ceramics were a gift from God.

Sometimes it was almost more than I could express. There were times I would design something and look at it the next day and wonder, “Could I do that exact design again? How did I do that? Where did it come from?”

I knew that even my ideas weren’t my own. They were being gifted to me by God. I was just a conduit. It was an awesome and humbling realization.

I also learned over time not to compare myself to other artists and to try not to feel inadequate. I realized that it was an insult to God when I did that because I was telling him that the talent he gave me wasn’t enough, that somehow I deserved more or better. Instead, I try to do the best I can with the gifts he has given me.

The more I painted and produced ceramics, the more I realized what a great metaphor they are for our lives and especially as women.

We are truly clay in God’s hands. He molds us, strengthens us through trials by fire to make us more useful and more beautiful to HIS service. Our aim is to glorify Him in all things, but we all have fires that we must face.

Greenware- It’s “green” like a neophyte, unprepared and untested. It’s not very useful in that form. It is also VERY fragile. This greenware is just dried mud. It has been given a form, and it has potential. However, if I drop it or try to fill it, it will fall apart. We start out are fragile like that too.

Bisque- When greenware is fired it comes out stronger. The molecules have been bound together by intense heat. It is useful and has a purpose, but its still kind of plain and uninteresting.

The painted piece- It is only through painting the many layers of paint that it begins to become something uniquely its own. It becomes useful AND beautiful. We are like that too! It is the layering of experiences and the living of our lives that begin to make us beautiful inside and unique

Glazed piece. Sometimes our inner beauty is hidden as in a glaze covered piece.

The finished piece- However, not until this bowl goes through the intense firings will it be able to fulfill the intention that was molded in to it. The piece is now strong, beautiful, and functional. Now, it’s purpose can be fulfilled.

We are clay in God’s loving hands. Just like the steps that have to be followed to get a finished ceramic piece; we must follow God’s plan and His instructions for our lives so that we can become beautiful inside and out. We become useful, uniquely us, and we reflect the beauty of our creator to the world.

We are fragile empty vessels without our own fires that we go through to be strengthened. We are useless without the creator’s love and intentional design, molding, and embellishments of life’s beauty and trials.

God knows the plans He has for us long before we do. It is our job to show up in our lives every day and walk in confidence that all will unfold in His time, according to His will.

When life’s pressures are sometimes more than what we think we can bear, we must face our days and trials with the confidence that we will be better, stronger, more useful, and more beautiful as we grow and age. We can approach each day and challenge knowing that God has us covered. He is sovereign over everything, and that includes us! Picture yourself as a beautiful piece of ceramics.

Malachai 3:3; “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver”; he will purify and refine like gold.

We will always have challenges in our lives no matter our age or circumstances. My husband and I are currently facing a very tough time in our long marriage. He is suffering with chronic anxiety that has lasted for the past 20 months. He has stopped living his life, and is no longer the happy outgoing man that he has always been.

It is a hard thing to watch on a daily basis. However, my faith in God and knowing that He is sovereign in everything helps me to take things day by day. I continue to show up in my life every day even when he isn’t showing up in his.

The love and support that I receive from this church community sustains me. I don’t know when he will get better, but I know that God has us in his loving care.

Also, in the midst of preparing this speech it suddenly became apparent that it was time to close my gallery. Although I have been operating my ceramics studio for 30 years, my first gallery opened 17 ago years in 2007.

For the past two weeks I have been in the process of unraveling and dismantling the gallery. Each day I get up and tackle a part of this challenge. It is another unexpected trial.

It helps me to remember that God has my back. Our job is to glorify Him with our unique gifts and unique challenges as we show up everyday.

I leave you with Isaiah 40:31; “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” That is my wish for all of you. Go forth in beauty and in purpose to fulfill God’s plan for you. Thank you!

Just Showing Up…For Lynn and Paul

The foregoing talk made Lynn contemplate some examples of Just Showing Up…

When Paul had kidney failure he was on kidney dialysis for eight years before he got a kidney transplant. Lynn and Paul decided they could be the dialysis team and run his dialysis at home. They did that for six of the eight years that Paul was on dialysis. He generally did dialysis 3 times a week for 5 hours.

Years later when he had the kidney transplant he gave me a birthday card and thanked me for always being there for the dialysis and never complaining. Why would I complain about something that was keeping him alive? But importantly, we were both just showing up.

And I never told Paul there were times I felt I was in ‘over my head.’ But I had utmost confidence in Paul’s determination and expertise with the medical aspects of dialysis. And I kept ‘just showing up.’

When Paul started studying the plasma energy it was through online classes. The scientist presenting the information had heavily accented English that Paul had trouble understanding. I could understand it so I said I would type a transcript from each four hour class. Little did I realize that it would take me about an hour to type ten minutes of video!

But, we just kept showing up. I got to understand what Paul was studying and learning. Then he would put into practice what he was learning. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but he kept with it and so did I. Paul was retired and in his 70s and studying, reading and developing the plasma energy. We were ‘just showing up.’

Paul died in December, 2019. He had done a lot of studying and the ‘heavy lifting’ of the early development of the plasma energy GaNS (gas in atomic nano solid state) combinations. I got to join in with ideas because I had an understanding of what he was doing. We spent several years working together on the plasma energy combinations by ‘just showing up.’

Now Paul was not here. So what was I going to do? My choice: just showing up. You all know that we went into lockdown. All during that time I continued with blogs, videos, researching what was going on and developing new energies. I was customer service, product development, research, as well as the blog writing and shipping departments. It’s been almost 5 years since Paul died. I kept just showing up.

Billy Carson Discusses Ancient Frequencies, Water and Intention in the Following Video

Billy Carson these ancient frequencies are extremely powerful. Epigenomics is study of DNA. Epigenetics is the study of the genetics that are passed down from generation to generation.. They are finally admitting what they have been calling ‘junk DNA’ is not junk. This should be in every school book, every university.

We have access to what they called ‘junk’ DNA and it has influence on our regular genes. The genome, the no longer junk DNA, regulates the gene expression. Nutrition and the environment are what influences the epigenome.

Our cells are fractals of the universe. Each cell is a universe. 70% of our cells is water.

We know that water carriers memory, vibrates to specific frequencies and responds to conscious thoughts both negative and positive. When you focus negative thought to water it loses its crystalline structure when viewed under the electron microscope.

If you speak dark, angry words to water, the crystalline structure is malformed. . If you speak positive light and love to water, it makes perfect crystalline structures when viewed under a microscope.

You have the closed cymatic frequency generator to your cells than anyone else because the voice that you speak with is in your vocal box. Because of that you are literally creating the environment for epigenome and the gene expressions to take hold in your body. Some people don’t realize why they have these illnesses and these diseases.

If you have a habit of being around people that are speaking negatively all the time and within hearing distance, your body is listening now. Maybe someone is gossiping about another individual. Your cells are listening to all that and picking up the vibration and frequency along with the conscious intent coming out of the person speaking. Those go directly into vibration and resonance with the water inside of each individual cell in your body.

What happens to that water? It stores information like a hard drive on your computer stores data. Now the only thing is, it is storing it in your body and you didn’t even speak this stuff. But you are in the wrong place at the wrong time hanging out with people that are spewing dark energy.

Just by being in the vicinity of somebody spewing dark energy consistently over time, you will be given dis-ease that will turn into disease. It will have you ‘pushing up daisies.’ Do you get this?

And what if you are speaking these dark words? You could be saying you don’t attack anybody or speak badly about anybody. But what about your self-talk? Your body is listening to that too. Your body, your cells, the water in your cells are picking up on the frequencies of your conscious thoughts about your own self.

It is reacting to your conscious thoughts light waves that are affecting each individual cell in the body as well as anything you do speak. Oh, I suck…I can’t believe I didn’t get that right…I can’t believe I did this—I am so dumb.

That is programmed into your cells, the water vibratory frequency stores it in the cells and now the cells become malformed and cannot function properly. Now the cell turns into a tumor and the tumor goes through mitosis and replicates in the body. Now you have tumors and now your body starts the death process.

You have to surround yourself with people with positive vibes. You have to stop talking negatively about you self and others. You have to catch yourself speaking negatively about yourself to your cells because they are listening 24/7 whether you speak through your vocal box or through conscious thought. You have to catch yourself.

Dr. Masuro Emoto studied the effects of sound on water. He died years ago but I got to work with his understudy one afternoon for about 4 hours at the Conscious Life Expo in California. We worked and talked about different frequencies dealing with harmonics in 440, 432, 528 and so forth. It was a great day.

We are walking around as 70% water. It is going to do the same thing outside of your body that it will do in your body. When you provide the wrong environmental situations then suddenly those cells begin to act crazy and initiate a ‘phone call to the epigenome.’

The epigenome sends the message to the genes and then epigenetics is ‘contacted’ and activate diabetes, cancer, Parkinson’s, dementia, This is the cycle that goes on. I am expressing this to you so you can catch on to what they mystery illnesses are.

Some illness can be from things we eat. But things can be compounded with dark energy and low frequencies and bad cymatics. That what is killing a lot of people and it’s never talked about. Cigarettes kill “X’ amount; covid kills “X” amount. Cancer and diabetes kill “X”amount.

Why isn’t anyone talking about low frequencies with dark energy? How many have they killed? Billions.

We have to change the narrative, how we talk, how we interact with the people we are talking with around us, and our self-talk when no one is around.

When you wake up the first thing to do before you get out of bed or talk to anyone is to ramble off five things you are grateful for. Start the morning with the positive immediately.

If you start out with your phone the first thing you do is negative. The first thing you open on your phone is someone being beaten by the cops. Set your intention for the day when you wake up. That is the most important part of the day—when you wake up and regain motor ability. Set your intention first and start your day this way.

Do not grab the phone. You pour negativity into yourself; you cannot control what comes on when you open that device. The other thing you need in addition to the five positive affirmations is a fresh glass of water.

Take a quick meditation break. I do this when I am in the shower. Any negative thoughts can go down the drain and I can focus on gratitude, energy, happiness, affirmations and powerful thoughts.

Start your day with this and get your cells on the right vibration from the beginning of the day.

Don’t wait until later. By then the cells are vibrating non-harmoniously. The frequencies are counter-acting and clashing and it sounds like a bad orchestra inside your body. Dis-ease gives you disease. You will push up daisies.

Cymatic influence—play specific sounds that resonate with positivity and healing. The vibrations will tune your cells. Play inspirational audio books. Play meditation music or authors with books that have positivity.

When you listen to this you can imagine the positivity going into your body and exciting your cells. Your cells begin to celebrate. Make your affirmations tailored to your goals whether for healing, confidence, positivity or whatever. Speak these affirmations out loud with conviction. Repeat them multiple times. Write affirmations tailored for yourself.

Write your affirmations for what you want to be or want to attract into your life. Put the audible frequency together with the speaking vocally and verbally about affirmations. All this comes together and creates an environment that is harmonious and your cells pick up on that. They resonate with that.

This gets you off to a great start. If negative things come your way it won’t be negative enough to overcome the excitement and exhilaration of your cells because you started your day off properly. Be consistent and repetitive. Do this process over and over so that it becomes new habit. Making new habits is not easy but you can do it if you are dedicated to it.

Integrate other positive reinforcements. Eat a balanced diet. Find the diet that is right for you. Support the cell vibration through health, eating right and exercise. The cells vibrate using energy from the mitochondria. If you don’t eat a good diet and exercise, the mitochondria that are the batteries for your cells are going to run out. When the batteries run out, the cells die.

When too many cells die, that can cause tumors to form. And other illnesses that you don’t want. Just eat right and exercise. We ate for fun. Now it is time to eat to live. We are here for a reason, a purpose. Our purpose is to alchemically convert darkness to light by any means necessary. That is the mission—that is your goal. You cannot do that if you are sick.
